Three Most Common Myths About Dreams: You Will Be Surprised

What would it mean to you if you could tap into a resource that was going to help you have healthy relationships and move to new levels of success. Also what if I told you that this resource was free, and would not require you to give up any time. Today we want to help you start your journey with using your dreams to help you make better choices, grow your business and see your life from a fresh perspective.

We are going to debunk 3 common myths about dreams. When you have believed these myths you have limited the positive impact your dreams have on you.

Myth # 1 – I don’t dream

We have heard this so often that we know it is a problem for people. I have good news for you, if you are one of the many that can’t remember their dreams. Sleep research has revealed that every normal healthy person dreams up to 4 times a night. By observing sleepers in a laboratory situation, researchers were able to identify brain wave patterns that indicated that the subjects were dreaming. When the subjects were awakened they were able to confirm or deny that they were dreaming. This research identified the sleep states most associated with dreaming.

Furthering this research it was confirmed that apart from a few extreme exceptions, all people dream.

Myth # 2 – My dreams are nonsense

The unusual content of some dreams can make them seem so unreal that we can be inclined to relegate them to level of nonsense. There is even a theory about dreams that states that dreams are no more that the random firing of synapses to keep our brain operating while we sleep. Whilst it is impossible in this blog for me to prove to the skeptics that the content of dreams are more than randomness, it has been proven that if you do not dream for more than just 10 days you will begin to suffer from varying degrees of psychosis. So at the most basic level our dreams are keeping us sane.

Dreams have benefited many people with creativity, innovation, wellness, warnings and much, much, more.

Myth # 3 – My dreams are about the person I dreamed about

It is a common mistake to see the characters in our dreams as the people they are in our waking world. What I mean by this is that if I dream about someone I know, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the dream is about them. So don’t go off and tell them that you dreamed about them so they need to hear all about it. 75 % of dreams are about the dreamer. The characters in your dreams are most likely to be representative.

That is just 3 of the Most Common Myths About Dreams that people ask us about.

Fun Friday; Blend Creativity and Business

By: Delwyn Armstrong

Friday should be the best day of the week. A day to review all achieved and to look ahead to all that is planned. Friday is a great day of the week to have time to think, get creative and strategize. Friday is not just another day. There are plenty of ideas for Fun Fridays and ways you can blend creativity and business.

Every Friday should be peppered with moments of fun. It can be more than about you getting to work early for the Friday Business Breakfast meeting but the whole approach can be to enhance creativity. Again it can be more than Friday drinks after work but what about this very cool idea that we were recently invited to;-

Successful advertising agency, “ Running with Scissors, “ host a, ‘Meet and Three Vege,” Friday afternoon where people are invited to present to all their team and then stay on to socialise as more people gather. It creates a very creative, innovative, environment. Plus the concept enhances healthy relationships.

How about strategic Friday meetings where the team is asked questions on innovative ways of doing things, new business concepts and there are never wrong answers. All the team are empowered to contribute, no matter the answer.

Interesting that when I taught my sons to draw i told them that there is no wrong way of drawing. The goal was to allow each child the freedom to express through his art. Interesting that as all 4 sons have drawn the same bird and have been given the same instructions, each bird has turned out very different and no bird was drawn the wrong way. Uniqueness is important and can become an innovating tool when encouraged.

At a business presentation we were asked to interpret a dream.

A person in the audience put forward a dream for interpretation. This is not something we participate casually in as we never know how a dream will unfold, but this dream was very empowering for the individual. The setting of the dream was in a theme park. The dream was giving the person permission to be fun and was telling him to stop beating himself up over being so much fun in the work place and with colleagues.

The person that had this dream was so ecstatic over the interpretation because he had struggled for years with the fun part of his personality and could hardly believe that these strangers could empower him so much through one dream. It truly was one of those life changing moments for him.

So I’m for more fun in our workplaces. Let’s start with Fun Friday. Whether you have a home office or have a partitioned office on a 9th floor. There needs to be a day to celebrate progression either big or small. Why not Friday?

We would love to hear about your Fun Friday ideas. Connect with us on Facebook and share your ideas with us.

By: Glenn Armstrong

Decision making is part of your life every day whether in business or your private life. So the better you are at it, the more successful you will be. You don’t always have the luxury of time when faced with decisions both big and small so making good on the spot decisions becomes important.

You will find your gut feeling to be one of your best assets in making better choices. Ignoring that intestinal feedback is a big mistake.

Intuition can manifest as a feeling.

Work with your intuition.

Just how does this work and is it possible to become better at these intuitive decisions?

Good news it is; with the right techniques and understanding you can become much sharper.

Intuition is the ability to acquire knowledge without seeming to have evidence and/or the use of reason. But that said it has been shown that you will be more intuitive about things you are familiar with, so reason is part of the equation.

You can learn to make good intuitive decisions about people and building healthy relationships in business whether it is with your staff, or your network; this is a key to success in any endeavour. It’s about getting the right people but even more crucial it helps with not getting the wrong people.

Here is a big tip – You are more intuitive than you realise.

Intuition is the ability to see the unseen.

You are receiving more sensory information than you can process. These messages are recorded and dealt with at an unconscious level. This wonderful unconscious intelligence lets you see the unseen. It has recorded what you have not noted consciously.

Reading the tells-Picking up those tiny messages .Those little give aways that reveal what people are really thinking, something professional card players are good at and use to good effect. Let’s learn from them.

Everything we do has an emotion connected. These emotions register physically as expressions, blushes, micro movements, increases in blood pressure, eye movements etc…

Our faces unsurprisingly are the main area for these emotions to reveal themselves .Over time these micro expressions leave permanent markings on our faces, these expressions and the trail they leave is what you use to assess a person’s character at a glance. This is where experts say you get much of your first impression information from. The ability to read these micro expressions can be learned. By understanding how these work you can focus on them, pay them some real attention and benefit by becoming more intuitive. There are some well-known examples of people caught on video telling some serious untruths. Take a look at these to get an idea of the micro expressions that cross the face during these moments. When you watch the news and people are being asked hard questions, try to (without bias) decide if they are telling the truth or not. Make a note of this. You can be sure that the truth will come out eventually and you can check your first impression or micro expression reading skills. You will improve with practice. Even better though is to study the faces of people you know that have certain characteristics that you like. Each emotional habit will leave a trail. There is something in the old idea of an honest face.

Take the time to look for and identify micro expressions.

Seek intuition. It will fill in the gaps; help you make those on the spot decisions that come from time to time. It will guide you into making better choices. Your gut feeling will prove to be helpful to you many times and become a powerful tool.

By: Glenn Armstrong

“You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete.” - Richard Buckminster Fuller

At the age of 33, Richard Buckminster Fuller had already achieved much but was severely affected by the failure of his business and the death of his daughter from the complications of polio. He was drinking heavily and even contemplated taking his own life.

Richard had hit rock bottom. Failure seemed to be his lot.

At this point he made a momentous decision; Richard decided to embark on an experiment. He decided to see what one individual could contribute to change the world and benefit all humanity.

Instead of pouring his life away in hopelessness and despair he decided to pour his life into bettering the world.

Now stay with me now for this is a truly inspiring story. Richard decided to think independently with a commitment to understanding the principles that govern the universe.

So just how did he do?

Richard did amazingly well! He didn’t just embrace personal growth and better choices. Richard Buckminster Fuller became a thought leader and inventor, and by the time of his death at age 82 he had received 47 honorary degrees, authored 28 books had 28 patents registered. His contribution to American society was recognized when he was awarded The Presidential Medal Of Freedom. He received many, many other honors in recognition of his enormous contribution in so many areas of society.

He loved what he was doing so much that he worked up until his death.

If you love what you are doing you will never work another day in your life!

So what has RBFs life taught us?

You can make a difference.

Determine to make a difference and be determined to be a success.

By: Delwyn Armstrong

I spotted a heading, ‘Land of Milk and Honey,’ in the business section in the Herald while I was away on holiday. This heading was describing New Zealand. Wow, I like that!

The article made me start thinking. What does your vision of your Land of Milk and Honey look like for you?

It is such a great time to enthusiastically move forward with business opportunities. You are now quarter of the way through the year and how are your hopes and aspirations for 2013 appearing for you?

Are they mentally achievable to you?

Reading a Bear Grylls book recently, “ A Survival Guide for Life,” he said, “Remember David and Goliath? Rather than David, the young shepherd boy, looking at this giant of a warrior and thinking, ‘ Yikes, he’s huge, I’m beat’ – he thought, ‘ With a target that big, how can I possibly miss!’

I was excited by what Bear Grylls empathized. Your Land of Milk and Honey, ( however that may look for you, ) is such a big target how can you possibly miss!

The Dreams that you have at night can lead you to success, increase your creativity, bring a stress free lifestyle, and even enable you to develop healthy relationships.

Your dreams help you spot trouble but dreams don’t just leave you to hang out to dry. Dreams give you solutions, hot tips for success and often prepare you for what is going to happen further along the road.

Let me give you an example…..recently some very good friends of ours found themselves hitting rock bottom. Really it had been a couple of years of being in a desert. Everything they had tried had not worked out that well. Do you know the feeling when the harder you try the worse it gets? Yep, that was what was happening for them. To make matters worse their hours were cut back at work. They went door knocking allowing themselves to be open to any opportunity and yet no doors opened and it seemed like more doors even shut on them. Costly household appliances started breaking down , relationships were hard going and on and on it went. When they sat down to review their situation and had a serious look at what their future was looking like they started from point on having life changing dreams at night. Yes, dreams to the rescue! The wife even had 2 directional dreams that clearly were telling them that it was time to leave town and move south! I need to note that these were people that already had a history of taking their dreams seriously.

So our friends rented their house, sold a lot of their belongings; all not necessarily an easy thing to do and moved South. . After 3 days travel they arrived at their new destination, not knowing anyone but with great jobs where they would be working together and with accommodation provided! They said it was like being in an oasis after a desert. Little could they have imagined how perfect, well suited and financial it was going to be for them both!

It can be hard to leave where you have settled no matter how difficult you find the situation you are in. For our friends this was not about moving south on a wing and a pray. This couple had the backing of 3 powerful dreams to stand on! Their dreams gave them the courage to take a big risk and make major life changing decisions. They are enjoying the milk and honey right now!

Maximize the possibility of having a successful year full of Milk and Honey. If you are stuck and you are not paying attention to your dreams you are sabotaging your chances.

Aim to hit your target this year and live in success.

By: Glenn Armstrong

Some people enter our lives and leave almost instantly. Others stay and forge such an impression on our heart and soul that we are forever changed. – Author Unknown

Who is your tribe?

To find healthy relationships first start by understanding who your tribe is. This first step is going to make it easy for you to find the right relationships that you want to be connected with. So start off by identifying for yourself just who that ideal connection is! You will need to know why they are your ideal connection. Just what sort of characteristics are you looking for?

You can identify your tribe in general terms like:-

- I am looking for motivated people.

- I want relationships with positive people who already have some momentum of success in what they choose to do.

- People that think outside the box.

This leads into why these people would be your ideal connection?

What makes them your ideal connection? Your answer could be - I would like to understand from them the process they went through to get to where they are now.

This may sound a little self-serving; think of it as loving yourself. Being around the right people is going to HELP YOU become a better person. Being a better person, will help others around you become better people etc… It is also the most natural type of education to learn from association.

In more specific terms you will need to identify just what it is you most need at the moment. This can be more difficult than it sounds but don’t give up. For an example, if you are having trouble doing sales then find a sales expert to learn from.

Make yourself attractive to the right people by keeping a positive attitude, don’t let the process you are in wear you down, so that your life is a misery. What you have chosen to do should be driven by your passion, this will keep you in the game more than anything. If passion is not there it is just too hard. Passion is a powerful tool. NO ONE is going to be able to fix this for you and what is worse even the most serving, able people will not be attracted to you in this state. Everyone has bad days. DO NOT dump the bad days on to your potential good connections.

Connecting with the right people is partly about becoming the right person. Make yourself attractive to the people you want to be with. It is easier than you think and you can do it.

You may have heard of the movie, ” The Men Who Stare At Goats,” which was something of a light hearted, fictionalized, look at a secret program to spy on the Russians. Spying on the Russians is not so unusual but what is unusual is the methods used by this particular government agency. They trained and tested and used people with paranormal abilities to eves drop on the enemy. This was because the enemy was already using these methods on them!

As part of the training this agency would send random people out to undisclosed destinations. The trainees were then asked where they thought they were and then their actual location would be confirmed. A reasonably easy way to verify a trainee’s ability.

The program was eventually shut down, not because it was a failure but because they had unwittingly revealed some of their own secret locations as part of the testing program and the agency was now concerned that the trainees had become familiar with too many of their own countries secrets. The program was shut down because it was too successful!

Elisha the prophet of the Hebrews was said to be able to repeat all that the King of Aram was saying in private, (2 Kings 6), an early case of the same type of paranormal spying methods.

Paranormal activity is something that is hard to prove, never the less it is common to all cultures.

We can sneer at it as ignorance and superstition which is fine until you are confronted with it in a way that does not fit your paradigm. I have met and interviewed a number of people who have had precognitive dreams (Latin- pre =before, cognito=I know).

Let’s talk about Deborah. Deborah dreamed of a twin tornados coming up off the sea and destroying her house. Two weeks later this very thing happened just as she had dreamed it. The dream had forewarned her of this terrifying event. Deborah knew what the outcome was going to be and in the terror of the tornado she also knew what she needed to do and that she would survive. Deborah attributed this precognitive dream to saving her life. She began to pay a lot of attention to her dreams from that day onwards.

Sharon had a lot of precognitive dreams and had taken to writing them down, sealing them in an envelope with the date and bringing them out at the time of the foretold event. A lot of the information she was getting was work related. This was a little difficult for some of her colleagues and some didn’t know quite how to treat her. But her reputation for being accurate was hard to deny. So when her boss became seriously ill, and his wife had to make a life or death decision as to whether to operate or wait out the illness, Sharon was able to relate a dream she had had of her boss becoming seriously ill, but then recovering very quickly. This made a difficult decision much easier and was precisely how it played out.

There is no doubt that precognitive dreaming is real and does happen. It is more common than most understand. It is incredibly useful if treated and used appropriately .The ability to predict a future event is incalculably valuable.

To most people dreaming is something that has a life of its own. Dreams come to us whether we invite them or not. We are so used to their presence in our lives and our society gives them so little attention that we pretty much ignore them mostly. Occasionally we have a standout dream that leaves us questioning if it had some message we need to understand.

Dreaming is good for you and essential to good physical and mental health.

It is well known that if you want to grow tall and be healthy then you need to get a good night’s sleep. The body does a lot of its healing while we rest and sleep. What is not so well known is that the essential hormone to regeneration and maximum growth, HGH (human growth hormone) is mostly produced by the body during REM sleep. 75% of our production of HGH is during REM sleep. REM sleep is the sleep period when we do most of our dreaming. So while you dream your body is repairing or growing. The production of HGH diminishes as we age and may be a major factor in the aging process.

Carl Jung who studied dreams and dreaming for most of his career stated that,”Dreams are the keepers of our sanity.” Studies done on volunteers who were denied REM sleep for just 2-3 days showed increased levels of irritability and anxiety. These people hadn’t lacked sleep, just the dreaming part of the sleep experience. Long term sleep deprivation is a known effector of psychotic episodes; it is also used in torture and brain washing techniques. But it is not just the psychological effects that are causal but the lack of dreaming that has been shown to have these effects also.

Our brain is like a powerful computer and like a computer needs to readjust itself to maintain its best performance .

This is one of the many functions of dreaming. When we dream we are reevaluating, revisiting and reassessing our daily events .The dream reveals the unconscious view point we have taken during our daily encounters, this information is beneficial to taking conscious control of how we are engaging with our world. Knowing why we may have reacted a certain way gives us the opportunity to choose to behave differently if it is more appropriate. This is a process of self awareness. Dreams mine deeply into our unconscious mind and are one of the most useful tools for understanding just how we are and what we are doing there . This is being self aware.

So sleep and dreams are beneficial and essential to both our physical and mental well-being. Have a good sleep. Dream long and be healthy.

The Law of Receptivity – The Key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving – The Go-Giver

Christmas ticks all my boxes because it’s a season of giving and receiving.

My husband makes the comment at about this time each year before Christmas, “Wow, you have really got into the gift giving this year!” But he fully supports me and picks up the bill! I have never resented Christmas in the way that some feel, “It has just gone too far and has become far too commercial! “ I just enjoy having a very good reason to give gifts and I throw myself into the season of giving and receiving.

It feeds my giving when people are just as excited about receiving as giving. It makes me desire to put more and more thought into each gift, thinking about the person’s personality, likes and dislikes and wish list. I go so crazy that I even give great gifts to my enemies!

But we all probably have had or have in our lives an Ebenezer Scrooge. A person that just has to be miserable about giving. They probably were never taught about generosity. Maybe they never recovered from a household with a very tight budget as they grew up. Their childhood may have scarred them so now they have a poverty mentality; never giving in case they end up lacking and going without themselves. Plus they end up being the worst receivers also!

But come Christmas day again my husband declares that there is no one else he knows that receives better than me….I even produce great sound effects.

So as an experienced expert at giving and receiving I thought I would share my observation on this subject. I have observed how positively and negatively this subject affects our business and personal life. Giving and receiving impacts our whole year in a bigger way more than just at Christmas time.

In business it’s essential to give. Giving certainly can place you above your competitors. Very quickly companies get a good name for giving far more value than is expected to their clients. You only have to give extra for free and very quickly you have got the customers attention. Retail companies like Farmers, Whitcoulls, Countown, and Power companies, give points that turn into gift vouchers. Airlines give you air miles etc… In the retail business if you provide good customer care you certainly get return business. But receiving is high priority also.

It’s not better to give than to receive. It’s insane to try to give and not receive – The Go-Giver

No one can just give, give, give. It is essential to receive.

It is a little bit annoying when you give someone a gift and they say, “ Oh, you really shouldn’t have.”

Seriously there is an art in being a good receiver.

Have you ever been an observer in a room with a group of people, or at a conference listening to a speaker, and someone speaks out a brilliant idea, piece of advice or a great solution and it falls on deaf ears. The concept or the hot tip that was spoken out just wasn’t received. It’s easy with the amount of information flying around that it all appears to be noise. We need to learn to always be ready to receive. Listening well is receiving. How well do we receive feedback? It’s a learned skill.

Networking is the perfect example in business of giving and receiving. Otherwise networking does not work. We were not born to move through life on our own; it’s essential to receive help and support.

We all desire to do more than just survive our business and personal life. So this Christmas lets learn to be an extravagant , happy, giver .Be open to receive. Choose to receive. Be ravenous to receive. And keep it flowing throughout the whole year!

And the secret to giving is making yourself open to receiving – The Go-Giver
